Discontinued?

Is it true that Dimension has been discontinued? I read it somewhere and also noticed there has been no 'whats new' features since 2020.

First Adobe got rid of the 3D features in PS, then they discontinue Dimension?

Do we use Substance as an alternative now? I struggle to keep track

As far as I know Dimension is well alive! Not discontinued, however, the updates are kept to a minimum (bugs fixing etc). In fact there have been an update very recently this week!
It is true that emphasis is now on the substance suite, that does way more things than Dimension alone. You can still use the new illustrator 3D features, which are excellent (I routinely use it to create .obj than I then port to Dimension)

You can add decals directly in Illustrator, material and lighting too

yes Dimension is finished, but its not currently listed as end of life so tech you can keep using it for as long as it will continue to run on your system... the main point is that means schools are allowed to teach it because its not marked 'end of life'

yes you can use Sudstance which is in effect just Dimension renamed and extra tools bolted on for more $... thats fine but its not included in the Adobe all apps subscription

most people have moved on to other options for 3D work
