I have asked a freelancer to create an .stl file from an object so I can create it as a model in DN, he instead sent me a DN file, can I save it as a model ? or i need to receive it in .obj or .stl to to do so?

Adobe cc library is a different team to Dimension or Photoshop... they live in their own little bubble which is the main problem

you can open stl or obj files like these two examples from Nasa and you can send them from Photoshop to your cc library but technically they get converted to graphics while inside the library simply because that is the silly way the team set it up

if you download it from your library back into Photoshop it will be unpacked into a Obj or Stl but Dimension sees it as a graphic i.e, image and can't really talk to the library... again this is just because the teams set it up that way and there is technically not reason it couldn't see obj files because Adobe Stock works when the server is online

at this stage to bring a Obj or Stl out of your library into Dimension you have to first open it in Photoshop, export it and then import the Obj file manually into Dimension

Adobe staff can pull a Obj file out of a DN but you can't

you can open it in Dimension or you can zip it to share the file in cc library... those are your only two options for now

there is talk of fixing the ui so you will be able to export [or save to library] but these are still on the to do list for now

an Obj or stl are best as both can be opened in Photoshop or whatever 3d software you like to use

Hi ussnorway,

thank you for your reply,

When i save the file it still saves it in DN,  and I can't upload it as a model .

What I'm trying to do is add my 3D bag drawing to the library of free models got from Adobe, except that my file is in DN not obj.

So, to date, the only way to do this is to upload a file to obj, there is no other solution. correct?
