Bootstrap 4.0 out of Dreamweaver.

It's great that DW finally includes bootstrap 4, but what happened if one day (maybe my oncloud account is canceled) I have to edit again the same site I designed within Dreamweaver and bootstrap? If I don't have DW at that moment, could I edit the site using any text editor like Brackets? Or there will be any Dreamweaver metadata which will not allow me to edit my site OUT of the Dreamweaver context? Thanks a lot.

Code is code.  It can be opened in any editor you like.

Dreamweaver has very good support for Bootstrap via component panels as well as code snippets.

Pinegrow is another code editor with smart component panels for Bootstrap, Foundation and WordPress (additional purchase required.)

Thanks to all of U!

For many years, since DW 8 macromedia, I was acostumed to the Design view WYSIWYG, which led me to lots of frustrations, then DW focussed more on the CODE tools and indeed it was really great.

According to many tutorials online I noticed that almost nobody used DW! Everybody went for code editors and I saw it really simple, organized, typing is not a problem because I can just prepare a bunch of snippets which I may use frequently and that's it.

Months ago, when the times of bootstrap 3, I was just dragging the snippets from the DW interface to copy on a Brackets editor's page... for what!!! no???

My question regarded to the old times when I used accordion or tabbed panels NOT responsive or other components like image exchange and the Dreamweaver templates with (editable, repeated and optional zones) and I wonder... HOW COULD I EDIT THESE TEMPLATES on a code editor out of the dreamweaver context? But instead of templates, I use Includes and all is better now.
Thanks again. I go back to DW. Let's see...

As Ben wrote, there is no Dreamweaver Context. That is, Bootstrap code is Bootstrap code. Actually, if you thought there was, you might want to look at using a page-building system that you can wrap your head around n place of something as "big" as Bootstrap.

As osgood_ has explained, Bootstrap can be edited by any text editor, it is just that Dreamweaver makes it easier for you to manipulate the layout and add components without manual coding. The snippets panel looks like

However, Dreamweaver has a much handier way of incorporating Bootstrap 4, as the Insert panel suggests

The lines that contain a down arrow, can be expanded for variations, such as

With a click of the mouse, the component is added to your document, no hand coding required.

Wappler is the DMXzone-made Dreamweaver replacement and includes the best of their powerful extensions, as well as much more!

Whats tne difference between a snippet and a componemt...any old editor with a snippets panel will do.  Just copy, dump the componet or snippet code in organised snippets folders, drag and drop into your editor window. DW offers nothing special in terms of getting code into the editor than any other 2 bob editor.

I would assume maybe the Brackets comunnity has produced an extension which includes some of the more popularly used Bootstrap code, many other editors have. I havent specifically searched the extensions in Brackets for Bootstrap as it doesnt interest me personally.

You can edit the site in any editor of your choosing, Bootstrap is NOT exclusive to Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver just includes a few basic Bootstrap snippets of code to help you get started which you can get directly from the Bootstrap site and make into snippets in another editor if you so desire
