I have firefox and internet explorer browsers on numerous boxes. Have development site http://www.ultra-ion.us that uses wimpy to access list of wvm videos. Worked perfectly with adobe flash player version 9. Does not work at all with upgrade to adobe flash player version 10. You can see a full screen version of result here http://www.ultra-ion.us/media/video/DriWashPlayer.htm

Looks like a serious bug in version 10 to me. Anyone working on a patch or fix???

    Hi Mindwriter,
I know all that stuff has been quite bouring. I got same issue than you all... Whatever, Wimpy update (version 6 i.e.) is costless. You have to pay for a new player when upgrading from 5 to 6. Version 6 mp3 players which have stopped working after Flashplayer10 install can be udated for free. I had to buy a new version as I used version 5.
I think Wimpy should have sent an alert to any user as soon as issue had been identified...

    ClubEXL.com,

It's a lousy thing to be left holding a bag... that no longer works.

I'm going to try to stay away from all flash content. It is not a valid tool for the long haul. Any fix for your software, or mine, would not take away inherent vulnerability to adobe's ideas of, "upgrade."

Even some code (non-flash) that could be linked to a button to bring up customer's system player in small window that floats over main play page would be superior in terms of peace of mind.

I despise the fact that I have to build anew. But I am going to do my best to be flash free and never look back.

    Adobe doesn't have a problem.
Software makers and users, particularly the users, do.

Have you all noticed? Wimpy has added this clause to their site regarding this scam:

    quote:

Important information regarding recent updates to Wimpy products and the new Adobe Flash 10 plugin. Older versions of Wimpy will no longer work for users who have upgraded their Flash Plugin to version 10. This is due to the plugin being more strict with respect to the way that Actionscript code is interpreted within the player. Only the current version of Wimpy products will work correctly with Flash plugin version 10. See "Current Versions" below. If you've purchased Wimpy prior to November 3, 2007, you'll have to re-purchase Wimpy. We do not have an upgrade or side-grade policy. If you purchased Wimpy after November 3, 2007, you should have already received an email containing a registration code. Click here to have the registration code re-sent to you. The new Wimpy Player products all require a registration code, which may require updating the HTML for pages that contain older versions of the player. If you've recently purchased Wimpy and have already implemented your registration code in the HTML for your pages, you will only have to replace the SWF file (wimpy.swf, rave.swf, wasp.swf, wimpy_button.swf) on your server. You will not have to edit any of the HTML code you've already created. Otherwise, if you're an old Wimpy Player user, the HTML that renders the player within your pages needs to be updated. Use the Customizer tool (or Wimpy Button Maker or Wasp Publisher), to generate new HTML code that includes the registration code information. See the "Getting started > About registration codes" section of the documentation for more information on using registration codes.

This is such a ripoff!!! Buy our software, use it a while, then buy it again if you want to CONTINUE to use it. EVERY other software I have EVER bought has still worked in spite of new versions being released. Winamp v1.0 even still works, as just an example. I know Wimpy is dependent on the Flash version installed on the machine, but even so, why haven't I heard of any other title having compatibility issues with Fl v10 (at least that wasn't promptly addressed by the manufacturer)??? This just sounds like a lot of BS to me...in an effort to maximize profits Wimpy is banking on those fools (sorry folks!) who bite the bullet and willingly re-purchase the software they already bought just to keep their sites running, and waving a silent goodbye to the (hopefully) small minority who don't return for more.

I have never heard of such blatant thievery: a shameless statement like this right on their site...

Me, I am NOT going to fall for their ploy. I am sorry for offending anyone but anyone who buys the new versions is enabling a CROOK. Where is that lawsuit I read about somewhere...?

all these suggestions are only one sided
they only are relivant to the WIMPY player

i however am using the Wimpy RAVE Player

apparently there is NO fix for this one
There are new files on their website but i downloaded these
and still i see DEMO + the files dont play

There are other players but i have my Rave player looking at a bunch of online folders. One folder for example has 101 files in it
    there are 11 other folders.
The other players mentioned mean i need to edit code each time i add a SINGLE FILE
whos going to anty up the time to place 500 files one at a time into my players for me?

    attnetion to StungBy10
you linked us to a file located in yoru computer

obviously we would not be able to get that inst file
youll need to link us to either the online file or upload it yourself and link us to that anyway

I found a nice little standalone for playing mp3s.

I looked at the suggestions in this thread; this one beats them all.

You can change colors with it.

It is the very simplest to utilize.

    It is here:

    file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/User/Desktop/zanorg%20player/instructions.htm

    There is no charge.

Flash 10 blew my mp3 store clean out of the water.

The software I used has closed its site. Perhaps someone is working on an updated version to accommodate the changes that flash 10 has wrought. That still won't change the inherent vulnerability of any and every flash product to the whims of adobe.

Adobe should have mounted a massive campaign on the net to inform that much of what people had labored on would be rendered trashed.
But then again, they don't have to, do they?
    Maybe they should have nonetheless.

Though the above player is nice, it still is flash.
Which means it too could get blown out of the water with more adobe, "upgrades."

I am currently looking for alternatives to flash for playing samples at website. Anybody who has any leads, please post them.
I would like to stay completely away from flash from now on.

so where are we now with this?

    what actions can we take
    and
its funny how this discussion is taking place on the ADOBE website and i dont see anyone from Adobe commenting on resolutions, or help in any direction

    Hi,
Issue has been solved here for mp3 player. I was working with Wimpy 5. Stopped working with Flashplayer10. Bought a new license for Wimpy 6. Inserted Reg code in php page. Player was still working in demo mode. Tried different changes in code lines with no result. So I just pasted code lines from customizer, applied changes then in code lines so as to get things work as they should and it has been working properly since that. I think code lines have changed since Wimpy 6, I don't know which ones but whatever it does work now.
So I think that if your player's still working in demo mode even when Reg code has been inserted, best thing is to paste rough customizer code lines in your page and apply changes then so as to fit with your web page...
I checked on Safari, IE6 & 7, Opera and Mac OSX (Mozilla), all is working properly now even with Flash10.

i had the same of problem with my wimpy player. for nearly two years it was working perfect. when flash 10 was released me too got the same problem..the people who updated with flash 10 version was not able to see my wimpy player. i contacted support team of wimpy. but it was useless and they didnt help me. sent lot of emails but no reply. they released in their site that they cant help the people who bought wimpy before november 2007. they asked me $29 to get a new one. $29 is fine and it doesnt cost much. but the problem is i need to change all the codings wherever i used wimpy to accomadate the new one. I was stuck with that because nearly thousands of pages i need to modify.. So we looked for alternative it also not worked because everything we need to start new from the begining of the site...

Luckily after a two months of research we got a new wimpy player which replaces the old one. it does all what the previous one did. with no annoying demo image. it workes with all browsers(IE, firefox, opera......) and all flash versions.. :) .
If you need that fix just mail me at muralibecs@gmail.com. It costs a little but worth more. since you need 5 secs to update the things from your side.its so simple..

its so conveluted at this point its hard to definitivly say whats working and not
the player i am using is their RAVE player
i bought it quite some time ago
I went back to their site recently
downloaded the rave player DEMO files
uploaded only the JS file, the SWF file and one or two other things in the folders like php files
    but nothing else
I do remember i only uploaded 3 files

    either way
i stayed away from the customizer screen and simply closed and reopened my browser
    it woks

However that only means it works for
    F-Fox 2-3 and Flashplugin 9-10
As for IE, Opera, MAC,and others, i think it still shows a BLACK screen

Checked your player on another computer, Mozilla 3.0.4, Flash9. Perfectly working, no DEMO link.
How are your playlists working ? Mine are playing from SQL database. It seems that new WimpyPlayer6 is working with Reg. Code. But it doesn't when linked to existing SQL database. Tried to download files from Wimpy site again, but link to Wimpy.sql.ed is not working anymore. My feeling is that Wimpy6+Sql doesn't work and Wimpy's still in Demo mode then. So download link has been deactivated on site but no info at all about it...
    Bouring...
