I have firefox and internet explorer browsers on numerous boxes. Have development site http://www.ultra-ion.us that uses wimpy to access list of wvm videos. Worked perfectly with adobe flash player version 9. Does not work at all with upgrade to adobe flash player version 10. You can see a full screen version of result here http://www.ultra-ion.us/media/video/DriWashPlayer.htm

Looks like a serious bug in version 10 to me. Anyone working on a patch or fix???

I did all that jazzman 2 suggested but missed the boat somewhere. I've redone everything several times.
Please help. This is making me nuts. And I also need to figure out Rave which I just bought a license for.

My podcast player is at www.molmed.org/podcast222.html

I don't think this is a Wimpy help forum. Send Wimpy a request instead...

I was updating a page for one of my customers today and I was nearly pulling my hair out because I couldn't figure out why the Wimpy flash elements stopped working in IE. I happened across this forum and I was disappointed that no one was getting responses from Wimpy. I was just about to contact them myself just for the heck of it when I came across a page on their site that has all the latest downloads (10-13-2008) with an update explanation of Corrected issue with "Flash Plugin Upgrade required." I downloaded the latest version of Rave and all is well.

Here is the link: http://www.wimpyplayer.com/support/index.html (Look at the release notes about 1/2 way down the page.)

    Hope this helps!

I'm making progress but am not there yet.
I did all that jazzman 2 suggested but can't get everything working correctly. My skin (which, of course, I;ve been redoing endlessly) still doesn't appear and I can't get the playlist to load or the start up text to behave. I've used the customizer tool 20 times and pasted in the code as many.

Yes pooklet, the JW Player is working fine for me in IE and Firefox. I just converted all my disabled videos over to it. I may not have the 4.2 version though, since I installed the JW player last April, if that makes a difference. But I see what you mean--people at the JV forum say they are also having problems with Adobe's version 10. That makes an even stronger case that Adobe is at fault. Wow, to think of all the tens of thousands of web owners who are pulling out their hair right now. Good luck everyone.

Well, luckily I also own EZGenerator http://www.ezgenerator.com/ which is a web building tool. It's only $129, and comes with great advanced multimedia plugins in the package. I just converted my whole site over to their Flash media players. Here's my site's page: http://mikeludwigmusic.com/documents/29.html I actually like these better than Wimpy.

In response to people defending software makers, Wimpy could AT LEAST post SOMETHING on their website addressing the issue to its existing customers. They have no problem pulling in new customers with their current versions, but what about all of us who already bought their products??? There is no response from them whatsoever...that's the real problem here IMO.

" NOTE: We will reply as time permits. Immediate response is not gauranteed. "

Well I've been waiting a couple weeks now, Sent another note today with a link to this thread. Stupid that they've got a nice little player, but no common courtesy.

    I would accept....

    Announcement:
Our older players are broken with Flash 10, if you have an older player, we'll let you upgrade so it starts working again for 50% off.

    Or even a,

    Announcement:
Hey cheap bastards, upgrade at full price to fix your broken player!

But not hearing a darn thing is the worst kind of customer service. It's like their out of business, but the PayPal button still seems to work.

    =======================

As for Adobe, Uhh, yeah, some kind of notice that the world's about to be turned upside down for a lot of websites, would have been nice.

I totally agree with postergame. I'll try your suggestion although I noticed some flash player 10 problems in their forum at http://www.jeroenwijering.com/?search=flash+player+10+problems

    Are you using it successfully?

Pooklet, try the free JW FLV Media Player for your video: It seems to be working fine. Download the player, then use their wizard to generate simple code for your website: http://www.jeroenwijering.com

My Wimpy rave and mp3 player are gone.
Has anyone located a good replacement product for mp3s and video? I need universal or mac platform.
    My clients are not happy.
    Please advise! Thanks in advance.

This is not a problem we can fix. It's inside wimpy's code, and they'll have to address it. As of yet they have not contacted me back. :(

I don't see why Adobe is being let off the hook here and taking no responsibility. My Wimply players have stopped working too, but so is another video player I was using. It seems that Adobe's version 10 update made some major changes, and was not backward compatible. It's like when we get a new operating system and then half our old software doesn't work anymore.

It's not Wimpy's fault. Their products worked perfectly with the earlier versions of Adobe Flash Player. Shouldn't Adobe have provided a warning before we upgraded? Shouldn't they have notified other software companies that rely on their Flash Player that a major upgrade was coming so that we all wouldn't have gotten blindsided? Many of us are now losing money now that our websites are malfunctioning.

    HERE IS A FIX (almost)
I downloaded the most recent version of wimpy player. Dragged the files to my server and put them in the folder where the wimpy player lives. The player worked as it had before but had "DEMO" on the top of the page (IE: it was in trail mode). I bought this player over a year ago.
I decided to purchased a new reg code for $29.00. Ran it through the customizer, entered my reg code and uploaded the the new wimpy.html to the folder on my server.
It is currently working (with flash 10 in firefox and IE and Safari) but the "DEMO" link is still on the top of the page. I have refreshed cache a dozen times. Several email to wimpy. The tech support over there is terrible!
Anybody have an idea for a humble user who bought this product twice.
I am worried that in 15 days they are gonna cut me off.
    thanks
    Mike

If your reg code is in the html where it should be, it should no longer be in "demo" mode... Running it through the customizer should have put it in the right place, so it's weird that you're still getting Demo behavior. Good luck with that..

Good luck with getting in touch with anyone over there.. I'm to the point where I'm going to write a letter, ya know, with paper and stamps etc....

    Hello friends,
I am a Wimpy customer. I own Wimpy MP3 player v5, and of course my product is dead now with Flash 10. Since Wimpy won't answer emails or voice mails, I thought I would drop in and ask here if I can expect Adobe to fix this problem, or if they know if Wimpy is even working on a fix. I am real mad because in order to get my software working I need to buy another license. I saw somewhere online that a guy is starting a lawsuit against Wimpy owner, someone who bought a bulk license. I can see why he'd be so upset, as am I.

I am surprised there isn't more negative propaganda online regarding this matter; I would expect there are potentially thousands of customers who's sites aren't working any more. Are people just buying new licences and remaining silent? I find this hard to believe.

    Thanks for your time,
    Michael Ludwig

p.s. I have actually been removed from their database! When I enter my email address to retrieve license information I receive an 'invalid email' error. Looks REAL fishy to me!

I contacted them yesterday, but haven't heard anything back so far. I posted this to my blog as well, so you guys keep the pressure on them too....

I've seen several of these now. You'll need to contact Wimpy. But I'm also going to contact them to see if they're aware of this..

Ahhh, Thank you, I've sent two e-mails to them already (last week), maybe a wake up call from an ADOBE employee will shake their tree. As I haven't heard a peep out of them yet. Thanks!

Well, There is no way to get earlier version of Wimpy alive. All is not lost though as you can download the latest versions of Wimpy Rave, make several modifications to your original files and get your Wimpy page back looking the same..... Just plan to spend a little time figuring and remembering how you did the original configuration, etc......
