I have firefox and internet explorer browsers on numerous boxes. Have development site http://www.ultra-ion.us that uses wimpy to access list of wvm videos. Worked perfectly with adobe flash player version 9. Does not work at all with upgrade to adobe flash player version 10. You can see a full screen version of result here http://www.ultra-ion.us/media/video/DriWashPlayer.htm

Looks like a serious bug in version 10 to me. Anyone working on a patch or fix???

Sueing Adobe for making a horrible program?  That's a terrible idea, LMAO!  First of all, he bought the product of his own volition...

It's 2013 now and I just ran into this same problem. Been waiting a week for Wimpy to respond.

Seems they just don't really care about their customers once you've bought the player.

Anybody know of another player for WordPress?

i discovered a simple fix that worked for me i simply told IE/firefox in the object code to use an older version by using this... it worked for all my wimpy loaded pages

i just went to their site and downloaded the RAVE player DEMO again which would give me the latest version files i already have my registration key which i used in the customizer page i recreated the player and uploaded the wimpy flash file + the js file and i think ONE other file including the GETID3 folder but i did NOT paste the HTML code over the old one

Hmmm I'm confused then. Why am I able to view your player and you have the old version? I have all the latest browsers and Flash 10.

    EDIT:::
Ok, it's working in Firefox but now not in IE...this is all giving me a headache.

The whole point to all of this is that people like me who develop sites for several clients need products that work in all browsers, all flash versions, etc, forever. Wimpy no longer works for everyone because of a flash update. Now web developers have to scurry around to find a new player for all their clients or pay up to a company that is a fraud obviously. I don't know about you two but that's not something to be excited about that it just works in Firefox. Not everyone visiting your site uses Firefox only, unless you want to downgrade your website and make a big ole sign...This site only works for Firefox users.

Where is the Adobe guy that was talking in this thread at the begining? Have you gotten anywhere with Adobe about a fix? Just curious.

And what I'd like to see in this thread is...does anyone know of any other players similiar to the wimpy products...mp3 players, buttons, wave player, etc. I haven't seen anyone mention any so that's why Im asking again ;)

at one point for a few clients i was using the XSPF on their webpages

dont remember if its skinnable but ill look into ways i suppose.

Either that or ill try to develop a Javascript player that works

ClubEXL.com, I just noticed the player version is 5.2.5, but in the above post you mention you inserted your reg code, a function v5 didn't support, so did you buy v6, then continue to use v5? Just curious. thanks.

I've given up on Wimpy. 3 support requests with no answer, yet they continually maintain their sales site and take on new customers. I too am wiped from their database. How could anyone reading this even consider buying more products from Wimpy? NO nice software is worth this. There are alternatives out there; I hope people take the time and BOYCOTT Wimpy as I have, and use other options on their sites as I have: http://mikeludwigmusic.com/documents/29.html This is not a plug for me, just my anti-Wimpy campaign :) See bottom of all my pages Wimpy!

can u guys help me test out the fix i been trying

    goto my main site
    www.antifmradio.com
theres a TAB in the center of the page in the center called

    On Demand Streaming Music

scroll over it please and see if the player loads for you.
    Leave all comments here please
iwould simply test it myself but i placed the correct files into my computer folders so i can still see WIMPY flash corretly
but if YOU are having a problem seeing it regularly
and you can see the one on my site

here is another problem i have with Wimpy right now

    i have their RAVE PLAYER
but i wanted to make sure i have the most recent registration info from them
So i went to their LOST PASSWORD page
entered my email address ( invalid ) was kicked back

    ok no problem
i have about 7 different addresses and only 3 of them existed when i purchased hte player in the first place
i entered ALL 7 addresses and INVALID still shows up?

ok so i am NOT registered with them?
    But i purhcased hte player
    i have it here
i have the registration email ( original )
i have hte conversation emails with them ( years ago )
    but still it shows invalid?

well your not the only one who's Invalid. I tried that too and all my emails with them and were invalid. they probably wiped out their database when they made their new site to sport their new players as they say
    December 3, 2008
well now isnt this a nice little mess.

I finally ( after 4 weeks ) get the new files installed AND the registration dropped in but

it still says DEMO ( just like the dude who posted a few before this one )
    I emptied the cache
    emtied the cookies
im about to empty my head but sure enough it STILL says DEMO
Just out of curiousity i checked all 3 of the codes it generates when you hit REFRESH PLAYER

in all 3 codes, it shows my registration key correctly. So... what now?

The solution that "ClubEXL.com" provides, might work for ME, but I'm not really worried about me, I can do without the players on my site, it's my users hundreds per day that come to the site who may or may not have (now) broken players. Try explaining to a few hundred visitors a day how THEY should download a bunch of missing DLL files and manually go out, hunt down the correct folders and install them themselves if they want to use my site. It just won't happen.

ClubEXL.com, I'm not harassing you, I appreciate any help we can get here, But for many people who are using the wimpy buttons on their sites a fix for just US isn't enough, it needs to work on a standard install of flash, on everyone's machine.

Works in IE6 for me, but not in FF2.0 or 3.0 and my users have complained about it not working in Opera, and various other browsers. And it worked fine before Flash Update 10..

Being a pre-registration code Wimpy buyer, them telling me in their "Suport" files to download the newest version, does not help, as it requires the reg. code.

Them not answering any of the three e-mails I've sent over the last three weeks isn't helping them earn any more money from me either.

The last e-mail I sent, I pointed them to this forum, and I haven't seen anyone from there show up yet either.

Problem for site owners at this point is, the Wimpy players are really nice, and I'd hate to NOT be able to use it.

    i have a question
and this is not a shot at Adobe but

why do they need to keep upgrading the flash files anyway?
What was the advantage of upgrating from 8,9,9x,9xx,10 and so on?

This certainly is a bad situation for everyone using wimpy players, especially commercially.

I would like to seek everyone's advice, on weather if I should upgrade to the new working wimpy player, or wait for a fix.

Like many of you, I am using the older player which did not require a registration code, if they would provide a cheap upgrade option for previous buyers, I would have no problem, but they only offer the new player at the full price.

Last thing I want to do is to buy 3 wimpy registration codes, for zero use of the new version functionality, just to have it working with the new flash player, but ONLY to find out a week after I buy, that the issue has been fixed by adobe/wimpy.

Just another wimpy customer with lost players. I need to find something quick to fix my clients sites. I purchased the wimpy button and the mp3 bundle and I AM NOT going to pay these people again. Adobe needs to get this version 10 fixed asap before they drowned in support requests. Wimpy gloats on their site about the "millions" of customers they've sold too so I image people are finally going to start coming out of the wood works.

Anyone know of a mp3 player that's always going to work?
    November 26, 2008
I woke up, checked my site... and after almost 2 years of operating correctly wimpy mp3 player was now missing in action... "movie not loaded". So I get ready to tear into my webhost as the culprit.. luckily I googled "wimpy not working", eventually found this post.

I think that Some of it's adobe and some is wimpy... flash 10 is also failing to register clicks on another flash movie not related to wimpy... click on a flash button & nothing happens. You have to close the browser and reopen the page then flash will respect the click...

anyways If you are fed up with wimpy mp3 player... I suggest that you check out AFcomponents, i wont list the url cuz i dont know how this forum feels about links but you can google "afcomponents" and they will be the number 1 result. They have a simple FREE mp3 player component for those of you that own Flash CS, simply install the component and drag the player to the stage, toss wimpy in the recycle bin... especially with that new license/reg key nonsense.
