FLASH Player on WINDOWS

"Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player."

I cannot successfully get Flash Player to work on my computer. I have tried everything I can to get it to work but it wont. I have turned off Norton Internet Security and Internet Options internet security. I've allowed this to be a trusted site in every part of my computers settings. I have turned off my pop-up blockers. And I have uninstalled the old version with the uninstaller.

But, when I get to the installer page I get either the Internet Pop-up bar saying "Cannot allow installation of ActiveX Control that may harm your computer", if I click on that bar I get no option to allow it to install anyways. Or it lets me install it and it says "Flash Player Successfully Installed" but then I return to Youtube only to see "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player." And I know I have Javascript on and installed correctly and I have turned on every single allow of activeX to be on.

I have been doing these things countless times for weeks now and it wont work.

I don't know, but the only way I can even get the install/download button on it to do ANYTHING is to go through firefox.

Having tried everything else, could someone provide an alternate for getting onto youtube, etc? or is there none? I hate going through all this.

Yes it does make a difference. The ActiveX installer for Internet Explorer is dependent on the Windows System registry. If there are incorrect permission or if the registry is corrupt the ActiveX installer may not install or it may not register correctly. The fix for this is to use SubInACL from Microsoft listed at the beginning of this forum thread.

The plug-in for Firefox does not have this dependency on the Windows system registry and typically if there are permission issue in Windows the plug-in for Firefox will still install and function.

If you are having issues with Firefox, usually uninstalling the plug-in and reinstalling will fix it.

That might be, but it sure as heck isn't true in my case!

I've tried both Firefox and IE. No go.

I've tried folloiwng the instuctions for reset_minimal.cmd

    I've tried uninstallling and reinstalling.

    I've rebooted.

I've done everything I know....the thing still won't do crap!

My problem is either the "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player" or after I run the
reset_minimal.cmd I then just get an empty window where the Flash player should be and this text at the bottom of both Firefox and IE: "Transferring data from img.youtube.com"

When I go to this page: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/

I can see the Shockwave player, but no flash player.

If I then try to install the flash player again, the same thing happens (still cannot see Flash but Shockwave is fine).

    Someone PLEASE help!

This is driving me insane...been at it for what seems to be forever now.

Is there a step by step that will actually work?

    THANKS!

Well, I click on the link and that gives a page that

I'm wondering if Adobe has considered making software that is not defective? It's unfortunate that a customer has to spend hours of their valuable time trying to get Adobe Flash Player to function. Maybe a boycott should be started to get Adobe to earn the respect of their customers. Adobe is encouraging piracy and I wouldn't feel a bit sorry for them..

The solution for me was to reboot after running the un-install. (WinXP/IE7)

    a) download new flashplayer & new flashplayer active x control locally
    b) run flash uninstall
    c) reboot
    d) run flashplayer install, run flash activex install
    e) reboot
    f) go to youtube :)

d3lf66 I tried your method and it almost worked. The only other thing I had to do was change the IE7 to enable Shockwave Flash Object instead of the default disable.

with IE7 go to Tools, Manage Add-ons, click Enable or Disable Add-ons
then scroll thru the items to make sure the Shockwave Flash Object is enabled

    Thanks for your help!!!

I too have tried all support options to no avail. I unfortunately, uninstalled latest version to try to solve another issue and now cannot reinstall. I have proper permissions, no problem allowing active-x controls. Removed and re-installed IE-7 as their knowledge based support recommends, and even down loaded a zip version of the active-x control. (also recommended on adobe site) says it is not the latest version (says flash player 9) will not allow it to install. an error message pops-up. All I get from download site is "installation failed" re-try option keeps taking me in same circle. I want to scream. Can't view any news videos, etc.

I guess I am not Alone. I have been working on downloading flash player for a couple months. I have been through forums, websites, etc. You name it I've done it. I think I may have a problem with my registry editor. I followed some directions in one of those places and compared my Advanced list in the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT area and it had nothing in it. So I assume that is causing the problem but have no idea what to do about it. They had re RUN "regedit" and go from there. Do you know anything about that. I really have spent a ridiculous amount of time on this. SOMEONE HELP! PLEASE

Welcome to the club. You'd think Adobe would be aware of all these issues and making some kind of effort to get their player working properly for the countless masses who are getting pissed off and frustrated at this company.
They never answer emails to support (if you can get THAT to work) and their
company is looking more and more feeble and pathetic as the days go by.
No word from them at all addressing all of these install issues.
Hard to believe this is a major worldwide software company.

This has been THE most frustrating experience I've ever encountered. I wish I had left well enough alone and just deleted those videos at YouTube which wouldn't play because I had "the old version". I really wish Adobe would do something or YouTube would use something that works....like Media Player! Trying to download this flash player SUX. I have tried 15 times now, so I guess YouTube will have to survive without me.
