FLASH Player on WINDOWS

"Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player."

I cannot successfully get Flash Player to work on my computer. I have tried everything I can to get it to work but it wont. I have turned off Norton Internet Security and Internet Options internet security. I've allowed this to be a trusted site in every part of my computers settings. I have turned off my pop-up blockers. And I have uninstalled the old version with the uninstaller.

But, when I get to the installer page I get either the Internet Pop-up bar saying "Cannot allow installation of ActiveX Control that may harm your computer", if I click on that bar I get no option to allow it to install anyways. Or it lets me install it and it says "Flash Player Successfully Installed" but then I return to Youtube only to see "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player." And I know I have Javascript on and installed correctly and I have turned on every single allow of activeX to be on.

I have been doing these things countless times for weeks now and it wont work.

Please download Microsoft’s tool to your desktop.

    http://www.supportflash.com/reset_min.zip

    1. unzip the “reset_minimal.cmd” and the “subinacl.exe” to the desktop

*** Make sure both files are on the desktop

    2. Close out all applications

    3. Run the “reset.cmd” file

    4. It will open a DOS like terminal and start running through registry keys

    5. When it is finished it will say “press any key to continue”

    6. At this point you can download the latest Flash Player from here: www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer

After countless hours of frustration and a couple months, I finally got my Flash Player working. First, I uninstalled Flash and ShockWave, rebooted, followed the instructions for the Microsoft tool, then downloaded Flash and ShockWave again.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

here is the solution to this..
    1. download the flash uninstaller from Here

    2. open regedit.exe (watch out.. you are now treading in sensitive territory)
    3. In HKLM/Software delete the Macromedia Key
    4. In HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia remove the Flash Key of you already have shockwave installed.

Now install the flash player... it should work

Darth Vader’s method will also work, but be careful when you open the system registry:

    The key is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayer\SafeVersions

Just delete the String value for FP 9 on the right side of th safe versions folder

    Dear Mr. McNally (and darthvader2000),

I just wanted to send out a Thank You!. I've been working on this Flash Player problem for 3 days straight now. It's basically consumed my days and nights and I was so annoyed that it wasn't working. I literally tried everything, and got to the point where I only made the situation worse and couldn't reinstall Flash Player from the Adobe website. The suggestion above is finally what fixed my problem and it's such a relief! Thus, I just wanted to say thank you for your help on this forum!

    Thanks again!

I have also been having problems with the flash player. When I go to a website that requires I download adobe flashplayer, it allows me to successfully download the flashplayer but will not let me into the website. Even after shutting down the computer and restarting it. On our computer we have different users in the family with different passwords ( and different restrictions) but my spouse and I have the same settings and when he logs on he is able to view websites using the flashplayer and I am not able to view the websites. Our settings are identical as is the settings under Tools...Internet settings... Could someone shed some light on my situation and help me? I have used the troubleshooting techniques under this website and nothing has worked. I have uninstalled a previous version and changed my internet settings as requested in the troubleshooting section of adobe flashplayer. Please help.....

I'm having a similar problem with trying to play videos at youtube, however when I try to play a video it doesn't give me the javascript or older version of adobe message instead it just has a blank space where the video should be. I uninstalled any older versions using the uninstaller, rebooted my system, then installed the latest version, rebooted again but it still does not work. I have tried all the suggestions like turning of pop up blocker and allowing youtube through my firewall. I am running windows vista (Home Premium) and I am using Internet Explorer. Can anybody help me

I tried typing in the uninstall command and got the message,
"is not recognized as an internal or external command."
Now, I have no flash player at all and when I tried to re-install it,
I got the same old merry-go-round with the green and white bars
moving but eventually, it always comes up saying download failed.

Hey guys, I'm joining the club of, I can't get it to work!!!

    Here's the skinny:

The Problem: I go to youtube.com or myspace videos -- I get the message "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player."

Alright, cool, follow the link. I click yes, that I follow the terms, then download. THe page loads, then returns to the exact same screen, saying I need to click follow the terms. I play that loop for awhile.

I did what db119 did. I turned off Nortne and all my firewalls. I turned off my popupblockers.

Still didn't work. It still didn't download.

I tried to install Flash Player 9 plugin, and the FlashPlayerActiveX. That didn't help things either.

I UNinstalled both those, as well as AdobeShockwave player (which I'm not sure if I should have done or not.)

dang, had to reboot --so anyways, back to the problem:

Nothing so far as helped. I tried using the http://www.supportflash.com/reset_min.zip but when it said it wasn't a valid signiture I chickened out. Should I try it?

So, to reiterate, no matter what I try, I click the download button, and the page reloads me back to the same screen, and no download box pops up.

How do I fix this, so I can get back to watching youtube and myspace?
    October 23, 2007
I have the exact same problem as db119. Ridiculous amounts of my time have been spent trying to get the Adobe Flash Player to work on my computer. Uninstall, reboot, install, reboot, installing a completely standalone installer, reboot, run installation, reboot... customize the internet security settings... uninstall everything and try again...

It is installed (at least that's what it says when I run the Adobe test), but the message, "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player" still pops up !

This is driving me bananas, please help!

What sites is this happening on? There's a discussion on another thread about Youtube, and I've added itv.com to the mix. Is it happening to you on other sites?

    Cheers.

YouTube, however, I haven't tried to get on to any other sites... Does the YouTube site have the problem?
