    GOT IT TO WORK.....!!!

    Vista / IE 7 Solution

Tried absolutely everything with IE permissions, etc... but running the FlashUtil9d.exe program in the C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash directory solved the issue. It installed updates of some kind... not too sure which ones but it got it working.

I cannot get Flash to install on Vista and IE 7 either. My new vista laptop worked fine with Flash until last week then it just stopped. Nothing new installed.

Uninstall Flash and tried to reinstall. Installer says it installed correctly when installation is done but when I go back to Adobe's website, it says Flash is not installed. Tried various fixes in support and nothing resolves issue. Everyone is complaining about this but I don't see fix that is working... I sure hope support get their stuff together otherwise, Mickysoft is going to over run flash with silverlght very quick.

I also can not download Flash or Shockwave. I am on Vistas, IE7. Everything worked fine until a few days ago. Tried to uninstall and reinstall, nothing. This is very frustrating!

My computer uses Sus Linux and Mozilla Firefox. Can I download Flashplayer? I want to use my computer to view some UK TV as my new flat owners won't allow satellite dishes on the balconies.

I've been struggling for weeks now trying to install the latest flash player......tonight I decided to try and install flash player 8 which I found on the adobe site, and it seems to have worked. There is a site I cannot watch video on, but mostly it seems to be working, so I am gonna quit while I'm ahead lol

Why doncha try it all of you who're trying to download the lates version, it's obviously got some bugs.....so go for 8 until they fix 9?

I'm in aggreement with DebMG's second posting on 8 Nov. After trying to update to Flash Player 9, I lost all ability to run videos off of You Tube, etc. I took Deb's advice and installed Flash Player 8 (which I probably had before I stupidly tried to update to Flash Player 9. ) My first try to run a video on You Tube was a success with Flash Player 8, after hours of failure trying to get Flash Player 9 to work. For others who may have this problem, make sure you run the "uninstall" flash player program first, before you attempt to install Flash Player 8. (You can get older versions of Flash Player off of the Adobe site, even though they try to get you to upgrade to the latest version, which is Flash Player 9.) I'm happy, I can see videos again. (Now I can finally go to bed at 1 AM! I hate computer problems!) I don't think I'll try to upgrade to another Flash Player version for a long time. What a hassle!

I've been struggling for weeks now with this issue. Nothing I do works, I've read the forums, even googled for help, spent money on a registry fix programme hoping that might do it...nothing I do fixes this. I can't watch on line vid clips...can't play games on msn messenger...beginning to think only way to solve it is to reformat...which is crazy really, whoever heard of going that far because of a programme that always worked and was kinda taken for granted.....still trying to resolve this, and desperate.

Ok Guys, this is what I did and it worked..

    Go to "start"
    Then go to "run"
    Type Redegit
    Go to this folder: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayer\SafeVersions.

Right click on the entire SafeVersions folder and delete it.

    Close Regedit.

Launch Internet Explorer. Reinstall Flash Player 9 from:

I am also having the same problem. But, I have Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. I don't know what is wrong. I uninstalled it, tried to reinstall it, and then this problem came up. My internet is always telling me to update the flash player when I can't. The green bar under the flash picture is moving and then a message pops up saying that "The Installer failed or was cancelled" nothing else. Is there anyway to fix this issue?
