Flashplayer autoupdate does not work on windows 10

Question

Flash Player Plugin for Firefox browser. Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTSB.

I use an internal update server with a silent autoupdate configuration file. Configuration file (mms.cfg) looks like this:

AutoUpdateDisable=0
AutoUpdateInterval=2
SilentAutoUpdateEnable=1
SilentAutoUpdateServerDomain=fp-update.company.local
SilentAutoUpdateVerboseLogging=1

It works great on Win7, but does not work on Win10. All conditions are true: service and task is present, all files in SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash are present.

Task does periodically start with no errors. But update do not happen for some reason. Even no logging.

Update only happens, if I run the task manually from Task Scheduler OR if I run the service manually from Services.

How to reproduce:

1. Install older version of FP on Win10.

2. Create mms.cfg file with the similar content in SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash directory.

3. Wait for autoupdate - it will never happen.

4. Run the task or service manually - update will happen, plugin version in Firefox is updated.

m_vargas​ are there any updates on the issue?Hi Petr EgorovI apologize for not updating this discussion topic. The bug I referred to in my first reply was fixed in 25.0.0.128 (the March Flash Player release). Since the bug is in the Background Update mechanism ,25.0.0.128 needs to be installed on the system to verify the bug is fixed. Once 25.0.0.128 is installed, subsequent updates should work when the system is turned off.--Maria

Hi,We are aware of a bug on Windows 10 that if the updater task is scheduled to run while the computer is turned off the task doesn't run after the system is turned on. We are working on a fix for this. This is most likely the issue you are encountering. On an impacted system, please do the following:Launch Task ManagerLocate the Adobe Flash Player Updater taskWhat is the result listed in the the Last Run Result column?Please note that the directive AutoUpdateInterval=2 is to change the update check frequency for Notification Auto-Update and invokes Flash Player to check for an update every 2 days. This directive is not used by Background Updates (aka Silent Auto-Update). Since you're hosting Background Update resources locally there is no need to have this in your mms.cfg file. --Maria
