Hi,

FrameMaker only shows an alert for unresolved cross-references to other files, when FrameMaker cannot open this other file in the background. For example when there missing fonts or missing graphics files.

When FrameMaker cannot open the target cross-reference file, it will show this alert, always when you open the file with the cross-reference.

When you open the file without this check, then you will not get an alert.

The reason FrameMaker can't open B.fm to resolve cross-references should be displayed in the Console window. For example, are there missing fonts or graphics in B.fm? When you update the book, the Book Error Log will display issues like this.
