Active footnotes hyperlinks in pdf?

I am inserting a whole lot of footnotes in my text and was expecting to have active links from the reference numbers to the footnotes when I published as pdf. But that is not happening? What may I be overlooking here? I feel pretty convinced that this used to work. But now I have tried in both 2022 and 2020, and... no hyperlinks! I am using tagged  pdf and distiller.... shouldn't this work?

Bjørn, for this very purpose I developed the script FMnotes. See Enhanced Footnotes on my webpage.

ok - seems I still have to do the work twice and insert at cross reference AND a footnote, in order to have an active footnote.

Yes, if you want to refer to an existing footnote, you have to use an XREF.

    Hi Bjørn:

I've never seen footnote hyperlinks in an exported PDF. They ought to, now that you mention it.

Both you and @LinSims are correct and I must be remembering this wrong. MS Word will do this trick no questions asked which is kind of annoying. 🙂 Must put it on the FM wishlist I suppose.
