Hello,

I have read on wikipedia (Adobe FrameMaker - Wikipedia ) that FrameMaker 2017 supports 64 bit:

           FrameMaker (2017 release)

Released 31 January 2017. FrameMaker (2017 release) new features included 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

I have downloaded FrameMaker 2017 and installed on Win7 64 bit OS. But FrameMaker 2017 is still 32 bit application.

Does this mean that FrameMaker is still 32 bit application but works fine on 64 bit.

Because want I want is full Windows 64 bit application.

Some is there a way how to install FrameMaker 2017 as 64 bit application?

Thanks.

FrameMaker 2017 is a 32-bit application, but of course, it also installs and runs in 64 bit Windows. The information on Wikipedia that FrameMaker 2015 and 2017 are also available as 64 bit versions is wrong. I have just edited the Wikipedia entry.

With FrameMaker 2019, Adobe has finally released a 64-bit version.

I do remember that during last year's product presentation - at tcworld / tekom - 64 bit support was on the table to be included in the 2018 release.

Here is a quick summary I made for my Twitter at the time:

Patrick Andriessen on Twitter: "Had a glimpse in the new features for Adobe #FrameMaker 2018. Here is a quick summary I …

Not sure if 64 bit is still going to be part of the 2018 release or when the new release is scheduled to arrive. But maybe Stefan knows

Wikipedia is wrong. FrameMaker 2017 is 32 bit only. It does however run perfectly on 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Windows.

I have to ask why you must have a 64 bit version? I'm sure it would be a nice to have, and I continue to hope for improvements in the FrameMaker core, but it still does a great job as it is.

Ian: I have to ask why you must have a 64 bit version?

That's the key question. There's a lot about FM that isn't even 16-bit.

And there are things about newer FMs that are (apparently) 64-bit where it matters, like .ps/.tps output file size and resulting PDF size.

Thanks.

That is what I though as it installed in C:\Program Files(x86)\Adobe.

I just though I made some error in installing FrameMaker.

To the best of my knowledge, Fm 2017 installs only as a 32-bit app, on both 32- and 64-bit machines.

Thus the install path is C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe FrameMaker 2017
