Adobe PDF Printer is never installed

I'm on a FM 17 trial, and it seems the PDF Printer was never installed. Repairing installation/reinstalling doesn't fix the problem.

FM is the only trial product I have installed, and I don't have any other purchased Adobe products.

1. I can't print the documents to PDF.

2. I can't print them to HTML5 either, mentioning something about JRE.

    Hi,

Did you install FrameMaker without admin privileges? Then deinstall FrameMaker again and install it as admin.

Otherwise an additional error message about JRE indicates that there is indeed something wrong.

Here are several support contacts. If you cannot get someone on the phone, send an e-mail to tcssup@adobe.com. What I have heard, they are rather helpful.

If reinstalling FM as an Admin doesn't fix it - you can try this solution - https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/add-pdf-printer-manually.html

I have just tried to install the free Acrobat Reader DC, but it still won't install the Adobe PDF Printer.

Manual route also doesn't work, the document option isn't available.

Acrobat Reader DC is installed in 'Program Files' instead of 'Program Files (x86)', so that option also isn't available.

Installing Reader wouldn't do anything - if you had purchased it, installing Acrobat Distiller would have. But the answer was just to install FM as an admin because it contains Distiller already.

    Hi Winfried,

thank you for the correct answer! The PDF Printer is installed properly, but the JRE problem still persists.

As for the JRE problem, simply install the latest version from java.com.
