Anchoring frames

How do I anchor a frame that can be moved to half in and half out of a text frame, yet move with the text if shifted. It also needs a fill an outline and another unconnected text frame in it. Corel Ventura had a wonderful way of dealing with adding graphic and frames. Why doesn't Adobe buy that defunct program and add those great features to FrameMaker?

What's the page layout? Single or multi-column?

    "half out" - where out?

The answer is probably going to be a run-into-para frame anchoring, but I can't provided specifics without more specifics.

You can put a text frame in an anchored frame.

Single column."Run into paragragh" can not be used outside the text frame. so you must use either "Outside text Frame" or 'Outside the column" Those two you can move to half in the text frame and half out but the problem is the text in the original flow will not flow around it, so you have to add another frame around that and use run around properties. That frame however will not move with the text if it shifts so you need to adjust evertime you add to the flow. It is a pain.

Set up your pages as 2- or 3-column, depending on run-in placement needs.

Set all paragraph formats to Pagination:

  • Across All Columns.

Now you can run-in an anchored frame.
