are application updates cumulative?
if there are several update releases available, must they all be applied sequentially, or are they cumulative, and only the latest update needs to be applied?

What version are you using? In the past they were sequential. In the current versions, you should be able to just choose Help > Updates to be brought up to date. Once the update is complete, just check the version number. If you are on 2015, the most current version is 13.0.5.547.
