Question

"As is" char formats in generated TOCs

Hi,

FM8.04, Windows XP.

To render ligatures in roman headings in a book, I have created a specific character format called "Ligatures" (uses an expert font). The size is set to "As is" and the angle is set to "As is".

When generating the TOC, these headings are typeset in italic. However, the ligatures are still in roman, despite setting the angle to "As is". I expected italic ligatures.

Am I missing something?

TIA,

/Mats

    Jon,

Suggestion #1 works like a charm - didn't even think of handling it that way. Was too focused on a way to retain the char format from the source to the TOC.

So it seems that "As is" for Angle does not work in the same way as for Size in the char format dialog.

    Thanks!

    Hi Mats,

I hesitate to suggest this, but could you redefine the Ligatures character format in the TOC with Angle set to Italic?

Also, have you made sure that your TOC paragraph formats are defined as italic (i.e. they don't have the italic set as a format override?

Surely this can't beat the FM experts on the list, like Arnis et al...?
