Asian Fonts

Hi All,

My client is localizing to Chinese in FrameMaker. What are the typical Chinese fonts in Windows? Thank you.

Before even getting to the typeface, what encoding does the client want?

The source text and/or the output workflows may inform this.

FM has been able to do one or more legacy encodings for a long time (Big5 ?).

With FM8+, Unicode BMP came in (U+0000 … U+FFFF).

But if you need codepoints in the Supplemental Planes, FM doesn't support those yet … and there are a lot of CJK characters up beyond U+FFFF.

The question of Traditional (~ROC) vs. Simplified (~PRC) Chinese might also arise.
