Auto Save check box doesn't stay selected in FrameMaker 2022

Has anyone noticed the Auto Save Every x Minutes check box in Preferences not staying selected in FrameMaker 2022? Yesterday, FrameMaker crashed and none of my changes were saved. The Auto Save check box was not selected, which I thought was strange because I was pretty sure I had it set to save every 5 minutes. I selected the Auto Save check box and set it for 5 minutes. I worked the rest of the day with the file automatically saving as expected. I was working in the same file today when FrameMaker closed without warning. None of my changes were saved, and when I checked Auto Save, it was deselected again.

Try making your preference changes and quit Frame immediately after. It sounds as if you have some sort of permissions issue. Is FrameMaker installed on a local drive? What about your files?

BTW, if you are dealing with a large number of files or large files, I think 5 minutes is a very short time, especially if working on a server. I set mine to 30 minutes and just Cntl-S when done working on a document.

You're not up to date on FM patches - the last one (as of Oct 31/2024) was Patch 5.
You describe accessing FM via VPN - is FM installed on a server or are you VPN connecting to a workstation where FM is installed locally? If on a server, you're probably violating the terms of your license.

The OP said the software is installed locally--the files are on the VPN server.

Yesterday after I selected the option (again), I may have closed Frame. I can't remember. This morning the option is still selected. I work off a server (remotley via VPN). All software is installed on our laptops remotely via IT. Thanks for the advice. I'll hold off marking it as the correct answer until I'm sure the issue hasn't returned.

What patch version are you running?

17.0.0.226 When I opened FrameMaker this morning, I checked the option and the check box is still selected.
