Hey! I'm wondering which font family is best and professional for Documentation in Adobe Frame Maker.

    Correct answer Bob_Niland
    • code point coverage
    • legibility, readability
    • licensing
    • variations needed (bold, italic, serif, sans, fixed pitch, …)
    • embeddability for PDF workflow
    • availability as a web font for for HTML workflow
    • tested: works reliably in FM (a non-trivial fraction don't)

This is the question! And it depends on your requirements.

For me a good font should be Unicode and have characters for all European and Eastern European languages. And if possible also for Turkish and Greek.

I do not need Asian characters.

Possibly also special characters like equation characters, trademark symbol, etc.

And of course the font should look good. Also in different zoom levels. Probably "look good" is different in Europe, the US and in other countries. For me this means clear, without serifs, easy to read in headings, body text, short paragraphs in lists and tables. I do not want different fonts in headings and body.

And cheap 😁, so that you do not have to beg to buy the font also for other colleagues.

My company font is Google Open Sans. In my opinion a good choice. But I also like the Microsoft fonts. That's also a matter of taste.

    Best regards, Winfried
