when I open a doc the photos are mostly if not all blacked out?

    Does FM give you any warning messages when opening the FM file?

    Also, do the images open and look as expected in other photo applications like PhotoShop?

    The most common problem in such scenarios is an over-aggressive virus scanner. Try to deactivate it for a few minutes and check if the images read fine after reopening the FM file.

    Also, save as MIF and reopening helps sometimes.

    2015 framemaker, jpg, referenced, and it has worked fine for a couple of years.
