Can I enter url's longer than 255 characters in FM 7.0

I'm currently running  FM 7.0 on Windows XP.  I need to be able to hyperlink to documents in a secure document management system.  Unfortunately, the url's are much longer than the 255 character limit.  Has this limit been eliminated in later versions of FM or does anyone know of a workaround?

    Nancy, this problem is independent of Windows 7:

    Until FM-8 all dialogues allow at most 254/255 characters in entry fields. In FM-8 some of the limits are relaxed. See my site.
