Can't select text...

Hello,

How do I delete some text that appears to be automatically generated? (I can't select the text, and it's not on the Master Pages.)

    What exactly happens?

    If you select letters of some text, and entire letter groups, words or paragraphs get selected instead, there are a number of possible explanations, including:

    • variable
    • cross-reference
    • text inset
    • graphics that appears to be text
    • someone has managed to get the undocumented PgfLocked tag turned on

    If the text appears to be on top of an imported graphic, you may be unable to select it at all if Run Around is turned on for the graphic.

    Adding to Error 7103's list, if text is on top of a graphic, it may be

    grouped with the graphic. You may have to ungroup them before you can

    select the text.

    And to add to Mike's addition, back at the basenote, I spy ..

    The usual suspect is that the text is created by the Numbering properties of the paragraph format.
