Question

Can't type certain capital letters

I have a very wierd problem:

Frame 7 & 9 won't type a capital F or S. Frame 8 won't type capital F or C. Pressing Shift+C (or F or S) does absolutely nothing. I've defined a number of custom shortcuts in CUSTOMUI.CFG, but I've searched all the CONFIGUI files & have not found any keyboard shortcut that would cause an obvious conflict. A former co-worker had a similar problem on her installation of Frame.

Any idea where I might find the conflict?

I found a very old message that a user posted about the same problem in

FrameMaker 7.2. They couldn't type a capital F. It was tracked to a

program called SiberLogic, and supposedly there was a patch released to

fix the issue. So check to see if you have that program installed. If

not, it is likely some other external program or plugin causing the

problem. There were recently some ExtendScripts of the Week that had

problems in the first release that prevented the typing of a capital U.

SiberLogic is a Content Management System. Is your firm using this to manage your content (using DITA, perhaps?)

Its working fine at my end, probably its conflicting because of customui.cfg.

I am not sure what entries you have made there however anything with <keylabel SHIFT+F> will not allow you to use SHIFT to type the upper case F.

Try pressing Caps lock and then do it.

Thanks for the response, Harry!

There is nothing in any of the configui files that is just SHIFT+F. Various shortcuts are defined with CTRL and/or ALT+SHIFT+F. I've searched through all the config files, and neither the factory installed files nor my customized files have any such shortcut.

Caps lock was a good idea, but it doesn't work that way either.
