Change Tag Default Settings

Hello,

Is it possible to change the default settings for different paragraph and character tags? If it is not possible to change default settings, is it possible to save custom tags such that everytime I open a new portrait those tags will be available?

Thanks,

Matt

    What an excellent question!!!

    Interesting enough that I went and looked up the solution:

    • Quit FrameMaker
    • Create a backup copy of maker.ini in the Fm install dir (duh)
    • In FrameMaker, open custom (no file extension) from the Fm install\init directory. Change this file as needed, save as .fm file in the fm install\init directory. I recommend only minimal changes
      • because of write access issues, I had to save custom.fm to another location, then move into the original location. Depending on sys config, you may be able to directly write in the original directory.
    • Open maker.ini in a text editor, change

              CustomDoc=fminit\custom

              to whatever your new template filename will be

              (mine now reads CustomDoc=fminit\custom.fm)

      • because of write access issues, I had to save maker.ini to another location, then move into the original location. Depending on sys config, you may be able to directly overwrite maker.ini in the original directory.
