I make changes in master page of a dita topic file, but whenever I restart FrameMaker2015, all the changes disappear, why? Anyone please answer!

mehjabins,

The appearance of a DITA topic file, including master pages, comes from a template when the source XML file is opened. Then, when the XML file is saved, all that information disappears. In other words, all formatting information in a DITA file within FrameMaker is temporary, just a convenience for WYSIWYG authoring. If you want master page changes to remain permanent, you would need to change the common template that is used to open the files. If you do change it, the changes would appear in every DITA topic file you open afterwards.

I don't know exactly where this file lives, perhaps someone else could advise. I would say, though, that this can be risky activity. Be sure to make backups.

Hi Rass,

Thank you so much for your reply, that makes my day :-) I have got the same reply from Bernard Aschwanden. The template files live somewhere like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\AdobeFrameMaker2015\Structure\xml\DITA_1.2\app\technicalContent\template
