Changing Page size to a custom size then trying to set it back to Letter size

I changed my doc to a custom size 17x11 and when I try to set it back to Letter (8.5x11) I get the message, "Resulting columns would be too narrow) and it will not change. Strange bug. Anyone know why this is happening and how do I get my doc back to letter size.
