Changing path for cross references

I need to change the name of the file that is being linked to by many cross references in a book. The name of the linked file has been changed, but the contents of the file are the same. Is there a way to make global changes to the path for cross references? There are far too many links to redo them individually.

Hi Tom:

Did one of these answers work for you?

It would be a simple job for ExtendScript. Alternatively, you could also do it by saving the file to MIF, then doing a search-and-replace in a text editor.

I agree if this is something they're only doing for a few files or that they don't expect to have to do many times in the future. Sometimes the BFME method is best, even if it is less elegant.

Rick Quatro's PathChanger utility will do this for cross-references as well as for graphics and text insets. You have to do some work in a spreadsheet program, but it sounds like that could be done by Search and Replace.
