Time to start entering these. If you are unsure about whether FM has the feature yet, please do some research and figure it out before posting.

Please don't post requests for assistance in here, either.

Cheers,

Sean

What do you find surprising about your printed output? I mean, what prints differently than you expect?

Print Preview window? A much needed feature - it's frustrating having to actually print out docs just to see how they will look in print.

Sean,

That's what I meant, will they work in FM? Apparently so, but I don't have any to try.

They work just like any other Type 1 in FM7.

Not sure what you mean. Install one, you should be able to use it in FrameMaker.

On a desktop publishing item from about.com, I'm reading about Open Type fonts, and a quick check of the Adobe site says they are the cat's meow. If they are that great, when will we see them in FM?

Horace,
Open Type fonts will work in FrameMaker, but you will not necessarily have
access to all of the font in FrameMaker, since the OT fonts that are unicode
based will have more characters than standard postscript fonts.

* Integrate MathType.

* OLE embedding should size the equations correctly.

* Centre these equations with MathType baseline values automatically.

Add the Import menu (and all of its submenus) that appears under File to the right-click menu. I would like to be able to right-click inside an anchored frame and select File>Import>File to insert an image directly into the anchored frame.

You can do this now by modifying the menus.cfg file. It's explained in
the Customizing Frame Products online manual (PDF) file.

I mentioned this in the 7.x wish list. It would be nice to have an image previewer. When importing an image file, I would like to be able to select the image and have it preview in a panel within the Import dialog box. Word has this it makes finding images much easier then having to remember file names or import the image just to see what it is.

Exactly. I'll admit that Adobe's product are quite expensive, especially compared those from MS, but believe me, once you get the hang of Frame, you'll see why you spent the money you did. The book feature alone blows Word away.

There is nothing.

The spell checker in FrameMaker is actually fairly flexible, but you have to dig. It doesn't do the on-the-fly thing, but neither is FrameMaker burdened by a bunch of programming overhead. Besides, spell-chucking on-the-fly fails in Word after about 300 pages and gives a message that the document is too complex for on-the-fly spell checking.

To add, I think MS Word is more sophisticated than unstructured FrameMaker. However, FrameMaker is more productive, robust, reliable, and you can count on FrameMaker more.

Cheers,

Sean
