Time to start entering these. If you are unsure about whether FM has the feature yet, please do some research and figure it out before posting.

Please don't post requests for assistance in here, either.

Cheers,

Sean

How about letting whatever I enter in the spell-check correction box go through if I click on "Allow in Document." Or enabling a don't check spelling field like Word has.

PDF only as a graphic, once in a blue moon. I prefer EPS.

HTML, never. But, it might be nice to be able to map HTML tags to FrameMaker tags.

Yes, maybe my situation (see Importing PDF or HTML into Framemaker) is unusual, but then again whenever I think that, I find others in need of a similar solution. Granted, the authors didnt use Acrobat correctly, which has stimulated me to request PDF and HTML import filters, but there must be others who would find a need in having import filters that could convert PDF or HTML to Framemaker and retain the links even if it didnt (or couldnt) carryover the paragraph formats, and the converted document looked like courier font on an old CRT.

I would imagine if the filter was only required to convert text and links then the PDF file size wouldnt be any larger than it is today so that would eliminate that issue..right?

So please tell me.. does anyone else need to import PDF or HTML files into Framemaker?

Thanks,
Chris Mack

>But, yes, it would be cool.

Imagine the size a PDF would have to be to retain the formatting and structure information from FrameMaker, Word, and every other product it had to deal with.

Yuk.

Chris,

Extracting text and so forth and retaining formatting is simply not possible from PDF, and could be potentially very messy from HTML. But, yes, it would be cool.

Steve,

Why aren't you allowed to buy FrameScript?

I've been suggesting that Adobe include some of these third party tools (FrameScript, IXGen, WWP Pro or Mif2Go, Shlomo's TimeSavers) along with Acrobat and ATM to create some kind of technical publications suite. It's never happened, probably due to third party licensing issues. But something like that would be very cool. They could add it to their list of Collections. Hell, *I'd* buy it. *g*

More input filters, particularly PDF and HTML, that will convert all text, links, paragraph tags, etc. directly into Framemaker.

Some kind of macro writing tool (perhaps similar to VBA in MS Word), bundled with FM so that we don't have to buy FrameScript (the company I work for won't let me buy FrameScript - doh!).

I have lots of documents that I need to bring up to date and I always find that I am doing repetitive tasks - tasks that could be automated if I could write a simple macro/VBA script.
