Color Display Issues

We are having issues with color not displaying properly in Framemaker 8 (Vista and XP). The color also prints wrong.

The specific color we are having problems with is CMYK breakdown 40c, 100m, 60y, 50k.
It shows and prints as black inside Frame, it should be a darker Magenta color.

Does anyone know of a solution to properly display and print?

    If the original color was created based on one of the "Library Colors", like Pantone or so, the situation is different.

    Inside the maker.ini, section [Preferences], you'll see a setting

    GetLibraryColorRGBFromCMYK=Printing

    Try setting this to

    GetLibraryColorRGBFromCMYK=None

    and restart FrameMaker. Of course, the color you specified is indeed very dark and puts a lot of ink on the paper, you might just try to adjust the values?

    [Edit: There are two maker.ini files, one in the program folder, the other in your profile directory!]

    Jeff,

    Frame outputs only in RGB. If you specify a CMYK color, Frame converts it to RGB, using a simple formula for all CMYK specifications, before outputing it. If you have a CMYK color used inside a linked EPS file, Frame passes it through as is.

    Somewhere in these forums is a very good discussion on this issue. I do not know where it is now. Try searching on CMYK.
