Color mode in PDFs

Starting with FM 2015, in the PDF Setup one can change the color mode of the PDF (RGB or CMYK):

  1. Open the PDF Setup dialog: Format > Document > PDF Setup. (It must be this dialog. Opening the PDF Setup dialog in the print dialog doesn't show the color mode option!)
  2. Select the Settings tab.
  3. Choose the color mode (RGB or CMYK).

The RGB mode is recommended for RTL languages.

My questions:

  • Where is the link between the color mode and the language direction?
  • I've learned, print vendors need a CMYK-PDF to realize a 100% true color matching on a four color machine. Isn't it true anymore?

RGB and CMYK use different printing engines. The CMYK engine currently does not support Right-To-Left and Scripting languages.

We are working on providing full support in a future FrameMaker version.

    Thank you. Now I understand.
