Is there a way to combine the two generated lists on one page?

When Lists are short enough, I just make them manually maintained, but if automation is required, perhaps:

    • move lof.fm & lot.fm to the end of the book
(generated, but not included in output)
    • create a lists.fm that imports the contents of lof & lot as Text Insets on a single page

    Thank you for the reply.

I have been maintaining it manually, but I've thought I asked because maybe there is a feature that I did not know.

That method is good to keep in mind.

You can create a List of both Table Title and Figure Title in a single generated doc using Insert>List of Elements and Paragraphs (Alphabetical).

Does this give you what you need?

    Hi Matt,

    Thank you for the reply.

I have tried that but it still doesn't give me quite what I want.

I want to separate the list with their own header. I've tried manipulating the generated text and add a header in between. But the problem is when I update the book file, it goes back together again.

Yes, the trouble is that when regenerating your generated lists, paragraphs like your headings, without the suffix in the label (TOC, IX, LOT, etc) float to the top.

You now have two options, both requiring a degree of manual processing:

    • What you have above, where the heading needs repositioning
    • What Bob describes below

I've used both, but prefer the solution you have now, as it is less steps and safety checks. In your current list, you only need to reposition the heading.

But again, I've used Bob's method successfully as well.

    * Of course, you could always just leave them as two separate files 😉
