Our client works on Adobe FrameMaker 9, we would like to work on FrameMaker 12. Is it possible? Are the programs compatible?

No, the programs are not compatible because they have different feature

sets. The files produced by the programs, however, can be made to be

    compatible.

However, each can save a file to an intermediate file format (Maker

Interchange Format) which the other can open; once open, the .MIF file can

    be modified and resaved.

In this case, your common file format would be MIF vor FM 9 (or a previous

version). Note that any file content added by FM 12 that is NOT recognized

    by FM 9 is ignored.

    So it's clunky, but workable.
