Question

Complex generated file case study

Hello All,

I have been producing complex tables of contents, lists, and indexes from unstructured FrameMaker books using ExtendScript and XML. I want to do a case-study and webinar to demonstrate the process I am using. Please let me know if you need a "generated" file that FrameMaker can't accomodate with its list and index features. Examples include picking up marker and paragraph data, information from master pages and variables, or the desire to present the information in a table. I am looking for a good document set that I can use in a case-study and webinar. In exchange, I will provide the scripts for you at no cost. Thank you very much.

A list of items that might cause issues with producing HTML and EPUB would be super!

To start, checking filenames (and paths), format names, and markers for characters that get confused with markup would be a huge benefit.

The first time I converted a large book to EPUB, I had about 1400 instances of #, /,\, and spaces that had to be fixed.

Happy to supply you with the edition of the material that contained the offending characters.

That might be interesting. I was thinking more in terms of where you would want a more complex generated file than FrameMaker can produce. In your case, are they things that would be tagged with character or paragraph formats?
