Conditional text in books and numbering

I am working on a book file that contains conditional text. One version of the book completely omits a chapter. Is there a way to add a condition that updates the page and chapter numbers in the book with the omitted chapter?

    A plan B that may simplify the whole process is to have two different parent .book files.

    One has all the chapters (and the Conditions set the way it likes).

    The other omits one chapter (and has its preferred CCs set).

    I'm not sure if you need to just set the Show/Hide settings for the book and update or if you need to exclude the file and update - my gut says the former...
