Configuration issues with FM16 custom templates...

I have been attempting to use custom templates in my FM16 version, however I have been experiencing a lot of different issues. I have noticed that this path "%appdata%\Adobe\FrameMaker\16" does not exist on my computer. Is this an issue that would have happened when FM16 was installed or can I manually add that file to the appdata location and have it work correctly?

I may be wrong about this, @LNHarding because I install a lot of Adobe software, but I think the Fm installation asks you if you want to use the default location or a custom location. Did you install Fm yourself, or did IT do it for you? If IT, can you search for one of the folders in my original screen shot to see if you can track it down?

If not, then yes, I'd do an uninstall/reinstall and keep an eye out for the location message.

I installed it myself...but I typically install the default unless I am told otherwise. I went ahead and reinstalled and found the appdata files now...hopefully starting fresh will allow me to get my templates figured out!

I usually put my custom templates in the Template folder in FrameMaker. That makes them available through the New from template button in the Welcome screen.

    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe FrameMaker 2020\Templates

What sort of issues are you experiencing?

Note that you must have administrator privileges to save templates to that folder and you must also have write privileges to the folder.

    Hi @LNHarding:

Before you reinstall, just confirming that you a.) enabled Hidden Files in the View menu and b.) followed this path:

Yes I did...unfortunately the FrameMaker 16 folders are not in the Roaming folder. Thank you!

It's a hidden folder - did you set your File Explorer view to show hidden files?

Oh I forgot it was hidden...but when I go to AppData>Roaming> it only shows Microsoft...nothing about Adobe...even with the hidden items on. I'm assuming that means there was an issue with the installation and I should reinstall?
