Copy info from third-party and paste to FrameMaker

Hello,
We have a defect tracking system.
I can copy the columns and rows of text and paste it get the information into a text editor such as notepad (in an orderly fashion) etc.

I’d like to copy and paste this information into the rows and columns of a table in a FrameMaker doc, but see no obvious option to achieve this.

I don’t want to import a file like a Word document because I want to apply the FrameMaker paragraph and character settings.

Is there a way to do this?
Or am I doomed to enter each row of information manually into FrameMaker?
I’m working with FrameMaker 2019.

Kind regards,
Fred Gerke

    Hi Fred,

you can paste it directly into Framemaker (Paste Special).

Then go to menu -> table -> convert to table.

Or you can paste it directly with paste. That also creates a table.

There's also the old trick of making plain-old Paste into Paste Special by rearranging the ClipboardFormatsPriorities= line in the maker.ini to read:
ClipboardFormatsPriorities=TEXT, FILE, MIFW, MIF, RTF, OLE 2, META, EMF,  DIB, BMP, UNICODE TEXT

    Thank you Klaus.

    I'd completely forgotten.

I guess if you don't use it, you lose it.

Yes, "Paste Special " & "Smart Paste " (structured ) are a very powerful feature which is helpful when you are trying to copy paste a content but also wants it to be formatted and properly structured respectively.
