Copying text with graphics that are imported by reference

I am using FrameMaker 2015 and our documents are stored on a network.

When I copy text from one document to another that contains graphics that are imported by reference, the graphics maintain their original link, which can get very messy if you do a lot of copying/pasting from documents in different locations.

Is there a way to move these graphics into the new location when you copy the text?

What does "which can get very messy if you do a lot of copying/pasting from documents in different locations." really mean?

  • In document A you have graphics which are referenced to locations on your network computer (where A resides)
  • You copy a portion from this document (including some frames with graphics), and paste it into document B (which also resides on the network computer - not a not yet saved document).
  • Some of the chunks you take from document C or D (which all reside on the network computer) and paste them into B.
  • You do this for several chunks of text.

What is messed up?
