Crashing after PDF Creation

Please forgive if this has been asked previously ... as always the case, the timing couldn't be worse and I have a book due to print.

My colleague made a pdf of this 1,000+ page book, and Frame gave him a message indicating it ran out of memory. This has happened before.

What hasn't happened before: Every file in the book now crashes Frame on open. Even the backup files in the same folder crash it. 

Files for another book work just fine.

For what it's worth (not much, I know) the error codes on my system and the ones on his system are totally different.

Help if you can, please!
