Is there a quick tutorial on

  1.   Creating new commands in FrameMaker? Would I have to use FrameScript? I am a coder and have no issues writing code. I just want to know
  2.   Assigning a keyboard shortcut to a command?
  3. Am I better off using a third-party program to configure framemaker?

1.You can use FM's built-in Extendscript (or Framescript). See the FM Scripting Guide @ Adobe FrameMaker 12 *                 Adobe FrameMaker 12 Scripting Guide

2. Keyboard shortcuts are defined in the .cfg files and can be modified. Check the FM configuration guide.

3. The only third-party tools are available from Microtype (see http://microtype.com/resources.html‌) or some of the samples from Klaus Daube at Working with FrameMaker .
