I would like FrameMaker 13 to have the ability to rename the master pages.

FM already has this feature.

1. In the Master Page views, click on the MP name in the status bar.

2. A dialogue box called "Master Page Name" will pop up, where you can enter a new name for the Master page.

Note: You can not rename the Left and Right master pages.

I wish that this had been put in the online help for FrameMaker. Below is what is currently available in under the Master and reference pages section:

*********************

Rename or delete a custom master page

1)           Display the master page, and choose Special > Delete Page.

note:  You cannot rename the master pages named Left and Right, and you cannot delete the left or right master page or any master page currently assigned to a body page.

*********************

There is no mention of the instructions that you provided above. Also, I wish there were an easier way to do this. For example, if a rename feature can be made available under the Format > Page Layout submenu.

Here we are in 2018 (FrameMaker 2017, 14.0.2.425), and the help is still wrong! It now says: "To rename or delete a custom master page, display the master page, and choose Format > Delete Page <master page name>". But the command is actually Format > Document > Delete Page <master page name>... and it provides no way to rename the master page at all. Perhaps Adobe should spend some if its billion dollar profits on some decent testers and help authors?
