Creating a TOC when a large FM file is converted into multiple appendices

I have converted a large FrameMaker file consisted of over 2700 pages into multiple appendices. There are nine appendices (A through I) and has one TOC and the front matter. The original FrameMaker file was named ......Sec 1 and was coded as Appendix B. That is all paragraphs in the file were tagged as Bs.

My problem is when I update the book, all paragraph numbers on the TOC appear as B.x.x. I have already double checked the codes and they are correct i.e. appendix A is A and so on. I have checked the Master pages and the Reference pages and cannot figure it out as to what is missing!

I would certainly appreciate any suggestions to solve this problem!

    I don’t get it. What do you see and what do you want to see?

    Michael - The TOC should list the paragraph entries of each appendix. For

    example in Appendix A, the list should be A.1, A.1.1, A.1.2 and so on.

    Likewise, it should list for each appendix B through I.

    What I am getting on TOC is all paragraph entries are numbered as appendix

    "B".

    Since these appendices were made from a single base file, which was Appendix

    B. So, I am wondering whether there is an embedded coding of Appendix B

    somewhere, which is causing this problem.

    OK, there is more than one way to do it, but most likely it is the $chapnum property. Inside the book, right-click each appendix file and select Numbering. Check the settings for Chapter.
