In the last 20 years, FM has undergone lots of revisions.

Every FM user knows the shortcut to refresh the screen: Ctrl+l (small L).

Why is there still the need for this shortcut?

No automation possible?

    Perhaps some day Adobe will improve the graphics engine in FM. In the meantime, Ctrl+l. I've found that saving does not always clear up the display.

    Because the graphics engine is weak inside FM and seems to get easily messed up in displaying things? Personally, I just do a save every once in a while to clear my display up.
