Delete master pages and all pages with the associated master page

Deleting a master page, the pages that it was applied to remain in the document.

How do I delete a master page and delete all pages in the document that had the specific master page applied?

Is this possible? or do I have to manually delete all the pages?

Hi Theo:

How do I delete a master page and delete all pages in the document that had the specific master page applied?

This isn't a feature of FrameMaker.

We aren't allowed to delete a master page that is in use in the document (and we can't ever delete the default left and right masters) so...

  • on the body pages, choose Format > Page Layout > Master Page Usage and apply Right/Left to all the body pages in the file
  • return to the master pages and delete the custom master pages.
  • return to the body pages, and delete the content that you no longer need.

Also check Reference Page MasterPageMaps (which page may or may not exist), and if it exists, ensure that the UnstructMasterPageMaps Table isn't going to be asking for page layouts that have been deleted.

… or just edit the table to use the layouts desired, and run an AMP.
