Question

Density of spot colors should be exported correctly to PDF in CMYK mode

I want to use a spot color like Pantone that will be exported to a different plate from CMYK in the PDF file. Generally that works, when I export the FrameMaker document tuo PDF and select to export it as PDF.

BUT:

If I assign e.g. 50% density of the defined spot color to an object, it appears also with an opacity of 100% in the PDF. This happens also, if i define an extra color with 50% of the spot color.

(see attachments)

In RGB the colors are exported correctly, but that cannot be used for the further print process (CMYK + 1 spot color / or black + spot color)

It looks like the problem is specific to background colours in tables. I tested your file and added three filled rectangles with the spot Blue, 100% of the 50% tint and the spot Blue at 50%. These rendered properly to PDF. See attached zip.

Still the same Issue. It does not depend on the Kind of object (Tables/Frames/Text...).

The spot colors are named correctly with 50% of the defined spot color e.g. in PitStop, but the problem is that any percent value of the spot color appears and prints as 100%.

Sorry, but yes it most certainly does depend upon the object.

In Acrobat, if you use Advanced > Print Production > Output Preview and deselect Process Plates so that only Spot colours are shown, you will see the proper percent of the tints in the example. The table fills all come in at 100%, while the graphic objects are at the specified 50%. You can't trust the screen display colour rendering entirely...

Regardless, it's still yet another bug in FM's CMYK rendering for PDF.
