DTD Bug

Is there a problem with the instructions on p.604/605 of the Adobe Framemaker 8 User Guide for generating the DTD file? When I follow the instructions to generate the file and export XML the output xml file lacks the context headings for the titles. On investigation I discover that the DTD file does not contain any instructions for generating these headings, simply containing the statement (#PCDATA). On reading the DTD file back into Framemaker I find that the context heading tags have disappeared in the generated EDD.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

    Jon,

What is a "context heading?" Do you mean an EDD-applied prefix, or some sort of context-rule formatting arrangement? If so, the behavior you see is normal. These are all formatting gizmos that have no counterpart in markup. If you have special rules to handle contextual formatting (which you normally would), these are expected to remain in the arena of FrameMaker processing, ie, the EDD. If you are trying to get a seamless EDD/DTD roundtrip process in place, you might have some difficulty... I've never found those import/export functions much good for anything other than the initial generation of one or the other. Other users might have tips and tricks that make it work better.
