Error when updating from FM 8.0p266

Hi,

I can't seem to get patches for FrameMaker 8 to be installed.
I have not been working in FrameMaker for a couple of months, but now I will start doing some changes for my templates and would like to use the latest version on FrameMaker.

I have version 8.0p266.
When trying to use Updates from the menu I get an error.
I get the same error when going to Adobes pages and try to bring down patches directly from there.

The error I get is:
You do not have correct version of FM install on your system. This patch installer will work only with Version 8b266 build.
Patch installer will quit now.

I have tried the patch 8p273.

What can I do?
Grateful for answers.

Regards
Monica Svanlind

I finally managed to install the updates, by logging out, logging in as administrator, re-installing the updates in order by executing the update files directly (double-click on them in Windows Explorer), and then logging out and logging back in as myself.

FrameMaker installation and maintenance seems to work best (only if?) you do it as the administrator user (which is possibly a bug in itself). If you're running the update from within FrameMaker itself, you are unlikely to be logged in as administrator.

The Frame support desk told me to uninstall and reinstall the whole package and updates. In the end I didn't have to do this. I don't know if it would have worked anyway for my system unless performed as administrator, which they and all documentation didn't mention.

I get a similar error message when I try to install 8.0.4 over 8.0.2 (8.0p273). The updater insists that the 8.0.4 update is only for upgrading an 8.0p273 installation - but that IS the version of my installation. The updater misreads my FM version and simply refuses to install. I've just submitted a support request to try and sort it out.
