When exporting a framemaker document to xml, I want the equations to be text.

How can I accomplish this? Currently they export as gif.

Using Framemaker 8.0

    Hi,

some years ago two students at a Swiss university created a program to accomlish that for Structured FrameMaker 7.x. You have to understand German to read the papers:

    http://ifs.hsr.ch/Projects/Projects/MathML_for_FrameMaker

It involved some heavy analysis about FrameMaker’s internal representation of the Math string.

Since equations are in anchored frames in FM, they will always be treated as graphics.

If you want/need XML for your equations, you might want to consider using a tool like MathType instead to create your equations. This way, you can as EPS and insert them as graphics in FM or save them as MathML directly from MathType and have them swapped in using XSLT post-processing.
