Question

Figure deletes itself if I backspace in a figure caption.

A bug or me?

The steps:

  1. Tag a paragraph as Anchor.
  2. Insert and resize a photo at the anchor.
  3. Cut the photo and delete the frame.
  4. Paste the photo.
  5. Create a Figure Caption underneath the image.
  6. Start typing the caption.

If I backspace while typing the caption, the picture and frame are deleted. If I Undo the deletion, I can backspace in the caption without the figure deleting itself. Any ideas?

Thank you.

Which version (point release) of FrameMaker and which operating system?

What are trying do with steps 3 & 4?? Seems completely unnecessary.

Are you inserting the figure caption paragraph after the anchored one or is it in the aframe with the graphic?

Do you have your Text Symbols visible?

Version 11.0.2.384 on Win 7 Pro.

I cut the photo and delete the frame so I easily have the frame resized when I paste the photo. Seems quicker than resizing the frame.

The caption is a paragraph under the frame outside of the frame.

    Text symbols are visible.

I tried duplicating this behaviour, but I don't get the graphic and anchor frame being deleted.

FYI, the esc m p shortcut will shrinkwrap the aframe to the graphic [it will also change the aframe At Insertion Point, which can easily be changed back to Below Current Line].

You might also want to have a look at Russ Ward's utilities (WS Utilities Plugin) which has the features that you're trying to use for fitting your graphics.
